My second ring!

January 6, 2012 in Rings

so, my second attempt to make a ring. This time I was a little more prepared, thinking it over for some days, to get all the details straight, instead of just going headstrong into the unknown.

I decided to make a ring with braided gold thread, and for the purpose I used three long strings, and three short strings. Now the idea was, that while the short strings only was to be used in the braid, the long strings were the ones going to put the ring together, and put pearls on them, to make a nice illusion of some fancy stones.

Therefore I put the short strings, so they were on the middle of the long ones. Now, it’s a hard thing to braid something from the very top, and I was very much in doubt it would succeed. Fortunately, my boyfriend, whom I’ve annexed for holding stuff when I need a third, or fourth hand, stated, that he could just hold on the middle of it all instead, so I could Braid one half first, and then the other half.

It worked very well, as this photo shows.

Snowyday brightners!

January 5, 2012 in Rings

Hai you guys! This is the Finnish girl speaking! I know right, the title doesn’t make much sense, but hang on, hang on, it will in just a second. I don’t know how many of you are actually paying attention but here’s something that might make you pay attention! If you live in the north, specially really far up in the north you’re surely familiar with our little friend called The Snow. Yes, he visits every year and makes our lives a little bit more inconvenient, specially if he isn’t quite sure if he’s staying or going (boy do I hate slush!).

But I managed to put something together to make it a little bit more bright. Bring a little bit of spring into your life too with this supery dupery way of making Snowyday brightners. Still confused? Well, let’s begin then!

First we need to ready ourselves and get out all the things we need.
For this design you will need:

10 x well dried pumpkin seeds for the flower pedals
glue – I suggest super glue, mine had ran out so it was a pain in the youknowwhat!
acrylic paint – you can choose the colour
rhinestones – I suggest you’ll color coordinate with the paint ;)

paintbrush
tweezers – recommended but not necessary
nail polish topcoat

simple enough, huh? Let’s begin!!

Necklace Pendant

January 5, 2012 in Necklace

Heres a homemade necklace pendant made by the Danish girl. The ring is made from same person too.
It’s made mostly out of gold colored copper-wire, 0.5 mm thick. Same size as the rings material.
It has a little silver wire around it too.
The top of it is a purple flower with an almost black bead on top. It also has a single green bead.

The way it lies, is the way it’s gonna be connected to a necklace.

fingerring

Finger ring.

This is the first homemade jewelry which is made for this website.

It’s a finger ring measured after my forefinger (note it’s the guy writing this post).
The materials are copper-wire. First layer, the middle, is silver colored.
The outer is gold and has a bunch of beans. The colors of the beans are green, blue and purple.
